“Puerto Portals Sailing Week – TP52 World Championship”“It has been confirmed, the moment has arrived and Puerto Portals once again welcomes top international racing, the TP52 Super Series returns to the port” – Corinna Graf, CEO of Puerto Portals.
In 2005 a group of renowned owners chose to build TP52’s to develop a new high performance class because they were no longer content to race on handicap. The present model is a lightweight, ‘flying machine’ that has come a very long way since its first design, when it was initially used for the Transpac Race from Los Angeles to Hawaii.
The 52 Super Series represents the very top prestigious level of grand prix monohull racing in real time whilst embracing the freedom to design and incorporating technology choices. The circuit has continued to thrive since it was set up in 2012 by a group of passionate TP52 owners who shared the vision and drive to maintain a top level arena for the fast, lightweight pure performance boats.
Now over 25 years old, Puerto Portals opens up to the sea as the most prestigious nautical and leisure complex of Mallorca. The port is recognised around the world as a reference for quality of gastronomic, entertainment and nautical installations. Puerto Portals welcomed the 52 Super Series between 2005 and 2008 and the competition harbors many perfect memories. Due to previous successes in all social and environmental aspects the competition did not think twice to return.
The competition will consist of 5 regattas between the months of May and September. There will be 9 new boats that will compete in the 5 regattas. The competition will consist of over a dozen of boats that will create an unbelievable atmosphere fulfilled of excitement and a strong sense of competition.
